MAGIC FESTIVAL 2012
On 15th and 16th June 2012, the III International Magic Festival Magic fest 2012 took place in Uherské Hradiště. Magicians Jirka Hadaš, Lukáš Jašek and the Arcanus civic association in cooperation with the Uherské Hradiště Culture Club successfully continued the tradition of magic shows from the eighties, which were organized in Uherské Hradiště by Jaroslav Hadaš and his friends.
This year's event was under the auspices of the Deputy Governor of the Zlín Region Ing. Jindřich Ondruš, the Mayor of Uherské Hradiště Květoslav Tichavský and the President of ČMS Pavel Kožíšek. The main partner was Česká pojišt'ovna.
Magic fest 2012 aimed not only to maintain the high bar set in previous years, but also to surpass it if possible. This was certainly helped by the exclusive guest Xavier Mortimer - one of the biggest stars of French magic, who came to the Czech Republic for the first time. By putting the pieces together, the organizers were already moving towards their dream goal.
The scenario of the two-day festival was similar to last year. Magic fest started on Friday morning with two educational performances for children from kindergartens and primary schools, in which children were charmed by Mišuge, Circle Circus, Šeklin, Magic Alex and a guest dog Keysi with Alenka Smolíková. Both shows were hosted by Jirka Hadaš. The afternoon continued with an accompanying event for the public called Magic Square with Deník, which took place in the city centre on Masaryk Square. Friday evening was dedicated exclusively to magicians and invited guests, for whom a magical evening in the spirit of hospitable Slovácko was prepared. There were cakes and sausages on the tables, the Ohnica dulcimer music played and a guided tasting of quality Moravian wines from the Bzenec Chateau Winery. The evening was truly magical, because after 28 years the princess Arabela - actress Jana Nagyová - returned to Uherské Hradiště. Jirka Hadaš conjured her up as a personal gift for the jubilant and friend of all magicians, Alexander Gerič, who recently celebrated his 60th birthday. It was unbelievable that all the magicians managed to keep this meeting secret all the time. We all felt all the more joy at their touching reunion, which was accompanied by tears of happiness and joy for many of us.
The competition part of the Magic fest was divided into three categories: micromagic, stage magic under 18 and stage magic over 18. For the best competitor there was a Grand Prix prize with a financial amount of 5.000 CZK. In addition, the Mayor's Prize was awarded. All the competitors were evaluated by an expert jury consisting of PhDr. Alexander Gerič - chairman of the jury, Mgr. Petr Kravčík, Josef Poncza, Jaroslav Hadaš and Tom Gryf. We would like to thank everyone once again for their patience and great work.
The organizers were surprised by the large number of entries, so they had to announce the first micromagic competition block on Friday evening. Robin Panuš, Radek Stach, Dan Konečný, Radek Vylíčil, Aleš Hrdlička and Miroslav Drnec competed in this block.
Since Saturday morning, the magic was performed only in the Culture Club. Filip Stružka, Radek Vojkůvka, Aleš Březina, Pavel Křižan, David Ďurica and Nina Kulišiaková, Leonard Farkas, Michal Kovařík and Radek Vylíčil competed in the second competition block.
Robin Panuš and Radek Stach, Dušan Cápa and Miroslava Denkeová, Pavel Wurcel, Jakub Píše, Aleš Hrdlička, Dominik Dorazil, Jana Hostičková and Aneta Valíčková.
After the end of the competition blocks there was an expert seminar. Xavier Mortimer and PhDr. Alexander Gerič shared their experience.
Magic Fest 2012 culminated with the Magic Gala Show. We tried to make this evening magical not only for the public, but also for the magicians. Jirka Hadaš took advantage of his friendship and invited V.I.P. guests - singer Petr Kotvald, comedian Josef Alois Náhlovský, Czech champion in natural bodybuilding Jan Páleníček and Belly Dance Group Aphrodite. Magic Alex, Arabela Jana Nagyová and Alexander Gerič, Duo Rascals, Pierot Aleš Hrdlička and the exclusive guest of Magic fest Xavier Mortimer enchanted the audience. Their last performance on the magic boards was performed by 2 Ogars - Jaroslav Hadaš and Jirka Hadaš, for which they received the best reward - a standing ovation.
Throughout the evening, prizes were continuously awarded to the best competitors in each category. After the gala programme, all participants and guests were invited to a buffet during which a popular raffle was organised for the magicians. Special prizes for the raffle were live rabbits and doves.
We really accomplished a lot in two days. On the website www.magicfest.eu you can see a large photo gallery from Magicfest 2012, in cooperation with Tomas Kubart we have created a DVD with the recording of the competition blocks and the Magic Gala Show, which you can still order from us.
I would like to thank all the partners and sponsors without whom the Magic fest could not have happened. We also received financial support from the Zlín Region, the City of Uherské Hradiště and the cultural grant from the Children - Culture - Sport Foundation. We appreciate the financial support of our friends Mr. and Mrs. Solaw - Duo Mardzanis.
Finally, I would like to thank all participants, magicians, friends and magic buddies for their support and participation in Magic fest 2012. We are glad that you made time in your calendar just for our Magic fest and came to see us. For without you, there would be no Magic fest.
Our biggest thanks go to the entire Magic fest team, headed by Věruška Balejová, who contributed to the overall preparations and the smooth and magical running of the event.
